Summary
The course deals with functional and structural solutions, construction, maintenance and operation of equipment for water retention in the landscape. These are weirs and small reservoirs whose purpose is the retention and accumulation of water in the landscape for subsequent use for protective, industrial, recreational, fish farming, etc ..
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- characterize, debate, discuss the issue of equipment for water retention in the landscape (small reservoirs, weirs);
- develop your own design of a small water reservoir concept
- to defend the own design of a small water reservoir.
Course Contents
Course syllabus:
1. Introduction - division, purpose and importance of facilities for retention waters in the landscape, peculiarities of their solution, relation to the local region, links to higher water management systems. History, current state and forecast of further construction. Legislative documents for the design and operation of equipment. Current problems of small reservoirs.
2. SWT - Selection of a place for the design of equipment (reservoirs), materials for design (climatic, hydrological, morphological, geological, hydrogeological. Characteristics of the reservoir.
3. SWT - Water losses in tanks, solution of tank storage space, calculation of tank retention space.
4. SWT - Technical solution of the dam - functional division of dams, material for dam construction, design of transverse profile, design of filters.
5. SWT - Discharge devices, calculation of the emptying time of the tank (for a consumer with a debt wall, with a sewer valve).
6. SWT - water flow through the waste pipe from the outlet. Safety spillways (straight, side fountain, shaft, combined, special).
7. SWT - Project preparation, project activity. Construction of reservoirs (preparatory work, construction of functional buildings, construction of a dam, modifications of the flow under the dam, finishing work).
8. SWT - Irrigation tanks, compensating, anti-erosion, protective tanks, industrial and water tanks.
9. SWT - Special purpose tanks, recreational and protective tanks. Breeding ponds, halters, chamber ponds. Objects on ponds.
10. SWT - Handling and operating rules. Operation, reconstruction, maintenance, siltation of tanks.
11. Weirs - Distribution of weirs (fixed moving). Hydrotechnical calculations - design flow, weir flow capacity, overflow coefficient, design of weir fields, dimensions of weir and weir pillars.
12. Weirs - Construction design - crown, overflow area of the weir, guide weir pillars, design of the broth, underpass fortification, weir sealing elements, potholes and bottom fortification behind the weir.
13. Weirs - Assessment of the construction part of the weir - loads acting on the weir body, static solution according to limit states. Fittings and seals. Temporary payment. Operation, maintenance and reconstruction of weirs.
