Summary
Mineral economics and geological exploration, development and mining of the
mineral deposits and mineral processing of the raw materials. Extraneous
influences functioning on the mineral industry (mineral pricing and mineral
markets, legislative changes, technological changes). Estimation of the
recoverable reserves and their assessment, investment analysis of the geological ¨
exploration and development of the mineral deposits. Assessment of the mining
companies and the mineral deposits. Government and mineral policy,
exploration and mining companies and mineral economics, mineral markets and
mineral pricing. Mineral and energy policy, international organizations and the
mineral policy.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Goal of the subject is to provide knowledge to the university student, so he/she will
be able to understand given points at issue good enough to analyse its content, to
realise synthesis of the acquired information and its evaluation. This sciential base
allow student to compare results of the synthesis, propose modifications and
solve the problems of the Mineral Economics.
Course Contents
1. Introduction to mineral economics and the structure of the mineral economics.
2. Exploitation of the mineral deposits and mineral economics, fundamentals legislation of the exploitation of the minetral deposits.
3. Goals and strategy of the exploitation of the mineral deposits, forms of the economic assessment mineral deposits.
4. Derivation of a economicallly mineable reserves of the mineral deposits.
5. Analysis and investment assessment.
6. Investment analysis and exploitation of the minerál deposits.
7. Basic characteristic and goals of the pricing mining company property.
8. Estimation of the mining company yield value, value of the reserves in the mineral deposit, results of the pricing mining company yield value and their interpretation.
9. Mineral markets and their participants and organization
10. Mineral pricing and influences on supply of the raw materials.
11. Fundamental principles of the mineral policy.
12. International organizations and the mineral policy.
13. Energy policy and energy security of the state.
