Summary |
---|
Students will get acquainted with the issues of nature and landscape protection, including cultural aspects of its development. They will get detailed information about the development of European landscape types, basic environmental and ecological problems, biodiversity, evolution and ecological succession. Attention will also be focused on the basic biological communities of the Czech landscape, rare, invasive and expansion species of plants and animals. Students will also gain an overview of the basic legal norms that affect the protection of nature and monuments and understand the complexity of the problems associated with nature protection and environmental issues. An essential part of the course are field work and exercises. |

b) ability to apply knowledge from natural sciences (biology, ecology,and also geology, geomorphology, etc.) in nature and landscape protection
c) the ability to perceive the landscape as a natural and cultural phenomenon, to predict its development, to propose its management and use

2. Legislative framework of nature and landscape protection in the Czech Republic, international conventions, initiatives and programs
3. Landscape, land use development
4. Landscape character
5. Biodiversity, concept, terminology, ethical aspects, measurement
6. Extinction, mass extinction, extinction episodes, species extinction and the present
7. Endangered ecosystems in the world and in the Czech Republic
8. Succession and its stages, blockers of succession
9. Use of succession in landscape creation
10. Theory of invasions, invasive species, ways and phases of invasions, consequences of invasions
11. Invasibility and invadability of ecosystems
12. Management in nature protection, protection of rare and endangered species and their habitats, rescue transfers
13. Historical parks and gardens - historical context in the world, Europe and the Czech Republic, important parks and gardens in the Czech Republic |
