Course Contents
1. Characteristics of zoology as a science. Systematic zoology. Basic systematic categories. Binomial nomenclature. Biological species.
2. Legislative protection of animals in the Czech Republic. Bioindication, bioindicator, biomonitoring.
3. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of phylum Porifera, phylum Cnidaria and phylum Platyhelminthes.
4. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, study methods and bioindicative significance of phylum Mollusca and phylum Annelida.
5. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the subfamily Chelicerata and Crustacea.
6. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the subphylum Myriapoda and selected classes of the subphylum Hexapoda - classes Protura, Diplura and Collembola.
7. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of orders from the class Insecta - Ephemeroptera, Odonata, Plecoptera, Blattodea, Mantodea, Orthoptera, Dermaptera, Psocoptera, Anoplura, Hemiptera, Thysanoptera, Megaloptera, Raphidioptera, Neuroptera, Coleoptera, Trichoptera, Lepidoptera, Mecoptera, Diptera, Siphonaptera and Hymenoptera.
8. Characteristics, taxonomy classification and bioindicative significance of classes Petromyzontes and Osteichthyes.
9. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Amphibia.
10. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Reptilia.
11. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Aves.
12. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Mammalia.
13. Characteristics of the fauna of the Czech Republic and its position within Europe. Characteristics and important representatives of animals selected types of the environment of the Czech Republic, including man-made habitats.
