Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The aim of the study of Geoscience and Industrial Tourism study program is to educate graduates who will participate in the development of tourism in the Czech Republic after acquiring basic socio-scientific, natural, montane, technical, economic, organizational and linguistic knowledge. Graduates of this study program are trained to specialize in the field of nature-oriented tourism (especially non-life-study of geomontane sciences) and technology (technical cultural monuments, etc.). Comprehensive knowledge in the field of natural and technical sciences will enable students to continue their studies in related study programs onthe Faculty of Mining and Geology at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava or other universities.

Knowledge:
Knowledge: - in the field of social, natural, technical and economic sciences - expanded language skills - knowledge and understanding of principles of determination of age of rocks and geological processes - understanding of the principle of the market economy and the issue of tourism - overview of the individual stages of human development and its impact on the formation of natural and montane sciences - the issue of the relation of man to the mineral wealth, its mining, processing and utilization - illustrate and explain the importance of mining for the development of other fields of human activity, immediately or less associated with mining
Skills:
Skills: - application of organizational principles in the field of tourism - application communication skills in guide activities - applying language skills when communicating with foreign tourists - elaboration of tourist guides and creation of new types of tours focused on natural, technical and industrial monuments - creating and processing itineraries with calculation final costing - prove to distinguish individual stages of development of the Country and to define their distinctive characters - the basic processes and problems in the protection of nature and cultural monuments, including the role of the historical development and legislative framework of the protection of nature and monuments - write a popular article or call a press conference on the theme suitable for the popularization of natural sciences. - he can make appearances in the media, controls the preparation of PP presentation for popularization lecture - overview of the basic legal standards that affect nature conservation and the issue of the protection of the environment - assess the current state of technical and industrial monuments and suggest their further development.
General competencies:
Graduates are professionally qualified to be independent professionals who can make competent decisions and orientate in a wide range of issues related to geoscience and industrial tourism. It will be the competence of knowledge, technical, organizational, communication and planning related to work in the field of Geoscience and Industrial Tourism.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates of this program can work as independent experts in the organization and promotion of tourism, as well as qualified tourism organizers and tourist guides specializing in inanimate nature, use of natural resources and technical and montane monuments. After completing the Bachelor's degree program Geoscience and Industrial Tourism, the graduate can apply as: - a guide to technical monuments - a management of geoparks - a guide to industrial monuments - a worker in the geoscience museum

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
