|Qualification Requirements and Regulations|
|Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.|
|The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VŠB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava.|
|Profile of the Programme|
|The graduate will be a researcher with deep theoretical knowledge in the field of energy technologies with minimal environmental impacts. The subjects are taught theoretical principles physicochemical processes both in the equipment used to produce electricity and technologies for environmental protection. The courses are both traditional power, i.e. the construction and operation of boilers, steam turbines, steam generators, heat exchangers and renewable and secondary energy sources - solar and wind energy, utilization of biomass and waste, heat pumps. Considerable attention is paid to environmental technologies for power plants and the impact of their operations on the environment, in fields focused on cleaning waste gases and water.|
|Key Learning Outcomes|
|Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies |
|The graduate has the necessary theoretical knowledge of general technical subjects, while having practical knowledge in the various fields of energy engineering (power machines, boilers and combustion equipment, energy management, legislation concerning energy industry, etc.) as well as in the field of physical chemistry and process engineering.
• He knows the physico - chemical nature of the processes occurring in technological facilities for environmental protection.
• He can handle the experimental data and formulated on the basis of quantitative conclusions.
• He can formulate problems and shortcomings of the current processes in the energy industry and the knowledge gained can correctly access solutions.|
|He is able to apply physical and physicochemical knowledge in designing of processes and equipment in the energy industry.
• He can communicate with experts in the field of power engineering, process engineering, materials engineering, IT, etc. and solve issues of technical viability, economic profitability, and environmental impacts of sundry technological processes.
• He can perform an expert work in the field of energy and environmental protection.|
|The graduate is a process-oriented power engineer that is able to perform an exact description of processes, simulation and design of adequate facilities. He knows the chemical-engineering essence of technology for environmental protection and is able to apply theoretical knowledge of corporate economic management.|
|Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples|
|The acquired knowledge and skills will enable graduates to be able to respond creatively to solve problems in the performance of engineering professions in power plants, heating plants, energy services and other elements of infrastructure. The advantage is its breadth of graduate education and adaptability in a particular application. Top graduates have the opportunity to use a wide range of fields of scientific research.
Graduates will be able to work also in other professions: technician of power technologies, company power engineer, and environmental manager.|
|Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading|
|Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.|
|Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.|
|Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.|
|Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.|
|IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director. |
