Ostrava Planetarium hosts the opening of an exhibition celebrating Norwegian-Czech diplomatic relations

On Monday 21 November Ostrava Planetarium is hosting the opening of an exhibition celebrating 100 years of Norwegian-Czech diplomatic relations. It will commence at 14:00 in the presence of the Norwegian Ambassador, Victor Conrad Rønneberg, along with the management of the Faculty of Mining and Geology, the management of the Technical University of Ostrava, and representatives of regional and municipal authorities.

The exhibition was put together by the Norwegian Embassy in Prague as a travelling exhibition. "We very much appreciate that people can see this exhibition at Ostrava Planetarium, which is an integral part of the Faculty of Mining and Geology of VŠB-TUO,” says Hana Staňková, Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Geology.

The exhibition consists of ten large-scale posters that depict not only the great achievements, but also a number of uncomfortable events that have occurred during the 100-year relationship between our two countries, dating from 1921 to the present. These include the beginnings of diplomatic relations, the events of the Second World War, relations between the two countries during the communist era, and the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union.

The exhibition is held under the patronage of King Harald V of Norway, and emphasizes the value of Norwegian funds that contribute to strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Norway and the Czech Republic.
