Summary
Mineral Processing is concerned with the extraction and purification of valuable commodities from the earth. The raw materials produced by mining are highly impure and must be upgraded before they are of use to society. Energy, raw materials, and the environment are some of the most serious problem areas facing the world today. Minerals processing play a key role in reducing and solving these problems.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Auditory are informed about basic processes, which are used for adjustment of coal, ores, non-metallic mineral raw materials and wastes.
Course Contents
1. Basic concepts in a field of treatment of raw materials, sorting of treatment processes
2. Preparatory treatment processes (crushing, grinding and screening of raw materials)
3. Physical separation processes (gravity, magnetic, electrostatic, optical)
4. Physico-chemical separation processes (flotation)
5. Thermal processes (agglomeration, briquetting)
6. Auxiliary treatment process (drainage, dust removal)
7. Technology of coal processing
8. Technology of treatment of ores
9. Technology of treatment of aggregate
10. Selected technology of waste recycling
11. Thermal processing of raw materials
