Summary
The subject provides general information about the processing of waters. Attention is paid to the processing of various types of waters as well as to all technology processes that are used during the processing and production of drinking and special waters for various plants (heating plants, boiler houses...).
Importance of membrane technologies and ion exchanges during processing of water to be used in cooling circuits.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
To inform the students about general technology processes used in the production of drinking water from processed surface and ground waters. To inform about the processing of water for industrial purposes, incl. special processing methods and measures taken in order to increase health safety of the water.
Course Contents
1. Types of water in terms of treatment, water sources. Pollutants in surface and ground water sources, drinking water quality requirements.
2. Overview of technological processes used in drinking water treatment. Pre-treatment of raw water. Settlement and thickening of suspensions. Settling and thickening tanks.
