Prime Minister Barzani receives Czech Republic’s new Consul General

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the new Consul General of the Czech Republic to the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Michael Svoboda and his accompanying delegation.

Consul General Svoboda thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for the assistance it offered to the former Consul.

He hoped for further strengthening bilateral cooperation. He considered the opening of the Czech Technical University in Erbil as a step in this direction, in addition to presence of a number of Czech organizations in that Kurdistan Region that provide humanitarian assistance to internally displaced people and refugees.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Mr. Svoboda on his new position and wished him success in his duties, assuring him of his government’s full support during his mission.

He expressed his appreciation for opening the Czech Technical University in Erbil. He asserted his government’s readiness to develop scientific and other areas of cooperation between the two sides.

The political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region were also discussed in the meeting.
