Open Science

Anotace

This workshop will help participants understand better the nature of Open Science and why it is important to them and their future career as researchers.
The term Open Science refers broadly to the scientific creation of “transparent and accessible knowledge that is shared and developed through collaborative networks” . The term specifically refers to a movement in the scientific community that envisions a ”general shift towards a more open, collaborative, data-intensive and networked way of doing research and sharing research results” that “supports the early sharing of research outputs in open access modes, empowers the participation of non-academic scientists in the research process (e.g., citizen scientists), and promotes an active engagement with the public” .
The goal of Open Science is ultimately to open up the research process, increase collaboration and make research results more reproducible.
Open Science has become increasingly important in recent years with many research funders now requiring that all data be made Open and results published in Open Access.
This is a requirement of the European Commission in the Horizon Europe Programme.

To whom is the course addressed?
This workshop is targeted at PhD candidates (R1) and postdoctoral researchers (R2) across all disciplines. Could also be of interest to librarians.
The workshop will be a combination of presentation and interaction with participants. As the area covered is quite extensive, participants may submit questions in advance to ensure a greater focus. The course will be in English.
