Presenting at a Conference

Anotace

In the course Presenting at a Conference, students learn to prepare, practise, and deliver a presentation before they go to an international conference as the course provides a safe environment for training and development of presentation skills in English.
Students learn to convey their message to the specific audience they target, talk about the results of their research at professional meetings (conferences, summits, and internships), and deal with the Questions and Answers (Q&A) session.
The focus is on the practical acquisition of presentation skills, and technical support during the presentation. At the same time, students receive tips regarding the language of presentations (key signposting phrases, i.e., phrases to guide the audience through the presentation + phrases how to face the difficult questions the audience might ask), and tips for English articulation and pronunciation to deliver the message understandably.
Through guided practice and continuous feedback, students progress to a final conference practice.
During the final session, participants simulate a conference environment, including Q&A, and students receive feedback both from the teacher and the audience.

Entry requirements for the course: English B1 (and higher)
Requirements for course completion: Active participation in 80% of the sessions (minimum 4 sessions) and presenting at the final mini-conference
