Subject syllabus

Nuclear physics, radioactivity, ionizing radiation sources. The basic dosimetric quantities and units. Determination of the radiation load from all kinds of sources of ionizing radiation, shielding, distances, exemption and clearance levels. Goals, principles and methods of radiation protection. Significant terms of the Atomic Code and the Notice on radiation protection.
Open sources, internal contamination, radioactive waste management and marketing of radionuclides into the environment. Stochastic and deterministic effects of ionizing radiation. Radiation disasters and accidents.
Types, properties, sources, effects and use of non-ionizing radiation and protection systems.
