Subject syllabus

General scope of the course:
Thermal actions on buildings, the effect of day and year temperatures fluctuation. Thermal changes due to technological equipment, heat of hydration. Fire load, fire curves and their models. Thermal expansion of concrete, timber and steel materials, the effect of the temperature. The changes in strength and deformation characteristics of materials considering temperature rise. The steady-state and transient thermal fields of two- and three-dimensional structures. Solution methods for thermal fields, the effect of nonlinearity of thermal characteristics. The effect of linear and nonlinear temperature variations through the cross-section on statically determinate and indeterminate structure. Dilatation of the load bearing structures, changes of the stress-strain state. The effect of support conditions and the width of the supporting element on the state of stress of construction elements.

Individual project:
The topic and the form of an individual project will be chosen by the teacher considering the scope of the thesis.
