Subject syllabus

The aim of the subject is to provide knowledge of the defects of engineering structures and the ways of their rehabilitation. The subject concerns the dwelling-houses, industrial and agricultural buildings, ancient and listed buildings.
Curriculum:
Masonry constructions, wooden constructions of ceilings and roof timbers, vaults, rehabilitation of wet masonry, fundamental constructions of flues, constructional-physical defects.

1. The problematics of surface condensation of vapor. Physical problematics. Solution in Mollier´s h-x diagram.

2. The problematics of surface condensation of vapor. Technical measures against surface condensation of vapor.

3. The defects of chimneys I. The defects of chimneys for liquid and fluent fuels.

4. The defects of chimneys II. The reconstruction of chimneys.

5. The defects of chimneys III. Defects in connecting appliances of fuels.

6. The defects and reconstruction of floors. Humidity defects. Thermotechnical defects.

7. The defects of roofs. The reasons of defects of roofs and their classification. Diagnostics of the possibilities of solutions.

8. - 9. Reconstruction and rehabilitation of roofs.

10. – 12. The defects and reconstruction of historical and listed buildings.

13. Surface modifications.

14. Modern diagnostic methods. Thermovision. Endoscopy. Measuring
the humidity of masonry and wooden constructions.
