Subject syllabus

The method of unit forces, derivation of equations. Solution of displacement and rotation of link and plane truss displacement. Solution of statically indeterminate trusses and frames.
Statics and FEM. Basic matrix equation in statics. Bar and beam stiffness matricies. Transformation from local to global coordinate systems.
Dynamics and FEM
Creation of mass matrix
Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam element
Eigenfrequencies and eigenvectors of non-damping vibrations
Non-linear solution of static problems, Newton methods, Arc-lenghts method
Buckling of structures
