Subject syllabus

1. The post-war situation in American art, contemporary context, the emergence of abstract expressionism. The situation in European art. Informel, tachism, lyrical abstraction, comparison with overseas development.
2. Post-war art in our country. 1950s and the philosophy of socialist realism - import from the USSR. Official scene. The second wave of surrealism. Ra Group. Circuit around revue Zodiac sign, Solitary personality. Modernism and creative groups in the second half of the 1950s. Discovering the Tradition of Modern Art of the Early 20th Century - Important Exhibitions of MS of modern art.
3. Informel, imaginative art. Similarities and differences in structural abstraction. Painting abstraction, hard-edge painting, color-field painting. Kinetic art and op art. Minimalism, the emergence of the movement and the main representatives. Antiform concept. Arte povera and his leaders.
4.Rationally constructive tendencies in Czech art from the 60s. Group Crossroads, New Sensitivity and Czech Concretism.
5. The figurative art of the first decades after World War II. Vienna School of Fanciful Realism. Neodadaism. Pop art in the UK and USA, new sources of art. New realism, French scene. Czech Parallel. New figuration and its European context.
6. Action art, Fluxus movement, programs, manifests, festivals. Czech variations of action art. Experimental poetry, Body art, Vienna shareism. 7.Conceptual art, philosophical reflection. Land art, the emergence of the movement.
8. Hyperrealism, emergence, main representatives in the USA and Europe.
9. Postmodern turn in art, 70s - 80s, programs and theories of postmodernism. New European Centers. Neoexpressionism, Transavantgarde. American scene of the 80s, comparison with European development.
10. Postmodern art in our country. Art Development from the 90s.
11. Globalized art scene and institutions of world exhibitions, their function and current form, Venice Biennale, Documenta Kassel, Whitney Biennial, Manifesta.

13. Architectural tendencies of the turn of the millennium
14. Outstanding personalities and tendencies of world art for the last 20 years. The position of Czech art on the world stage.
