Subject syllabus

1. Working principles of combusion engines. Categorization of combusion engines,
basic types of combusion engines. Basic definitions and terminology.. Basic values and characteristics calculations.
2. Operation of combusion
engines, two-stroke engines, four-stroke engines, spark ignition engines (Otto, gasoline), compression-ignition engines (diesel). Camshafts (SV,OHV,(D)OHC).
Two-stroke engine timing.
3. Fuels, thermochemical reactions, processes in combustion engine
4. Mixture preparation, carburettors, fuel injection systems
5. Main phases of thermodynamical cycles, fuel systems, diesel engine
6. Regulation of combustion engine, improvement of parameters
7. Main design elements, kinematic characteristics,
8. Design of combustion engines, fast parts
9. Design of combustion engines, moving parts
10. Other engines (Wankel, Stirling, electric engines)
