1. Methods of signal digitization, digital signal recording, multifunction cards, and signal analyzers.
2. Sensors for velocity, displacement and vibration measurement. Strain gauge.
3. Basic measurement of noise level and location of the noise source
4. Frequency analysis of signals.
5. Causes and symptoms of excessive vibration of machines. Excessive oscillation of the rotors. Evaluation of signal spectra. Signal envelopes.
6. Methods of measurement of frequency responses, their presentation, and evaluation. Resonance and antiresonance
7. Ways of exciting vibration of machines and mechanical structures. Operating shapes of machine vibrations. Viscous and hysteresis vibration damping.
8. Measurement of machine drive characteristics, speed relationship, torque, and machine performance.
9. Machine life tests, cyclic and random loading. Acceleration of tests. S-N curves, the hypothesis to estimate the drawdown of damage.
