Subject syllabus

1. Explanation of the concepts of ecology and energy management, the differences between industrial enterprise and municipal sphere.
2. Energy management, energy characteristics and balance, energy consumption standards.
3. Energy supply for industrial enterprise. Advantages and limits of own energy source and external supply. Efficiency of energy conversion, including transformation and transport.
4. Fuels and combustion for energy production, basic sources of fuels and their comparison
5. Gaseous fuels, advantages and properties. Natural gas and other possibilities of gaseous fuels, mixed gases and their use, combustion equipment for gaseous fuels, emissions.
6. Liquid fuels, advantages and properties, combustion equipment, emissions and problems with accumulation of liquid fuels.
7. Solid fuels, advantages and properties, transport, accumulation, combustion equipment, emissions and problems with solid residues
8. Combined combustion of different types of fuels, combustion calculations and possibilities of co-combustion.
9. Wastes, definitions, properties and legislation.
10. Possibilities of waste management, differences of municipal and industrial waste.
11. Minimization of waste generation, waste-free technology, limits of waste minimization, possibilities of waste utilization and disposal.
12. Recycling of waste, principles and history, development of recycling, separate collection and sorting of waste.
13. Storage and landfilling of waste, construction of landfills, dangers associated with landfilling, monitoring of closed landfill.
14. Waste incineration, ZEVO, waste incineration as a recycling technology, weight and volume reduction, use of solid residues, flue gas cleaning.
