Subject syllabus

Lectures:
Introduction to radio networks, basic concepts, the electromagnetic radiation spectrum, radio waves, the distribution of frequency band of radio waves, frequency tables, the use of radio frequencies in the Czech Republic.
Signal Processing (the source coding, channel coding, interleaving, modulation).
The issue of propagation of radio signals, types of radio waves, Doppler principle equalization, diversity systems, radiocommunication equation.
Surface cell structure, the use of the frequency band, handover.
Distribution of radio networks. WPAN networks - Bluetooth, ZigBee.
WLAN networks- WiFi.
WWAN networks - mobile radio communication systems (NMT, GSM, HSCSD, GPRS, EDGE)
WWAN networks - mobile radio communication systems (UMTS, HSPA, LTE, developmental trends).
Internet of Things - wireless networks for IoT.
Digital radio broadcasting, basic description of DAB system.
Digital TV broadcasting. The DVB-T system, signal processing in the DVB-T system. The DVB-T2 and DVB-S/S2 systems, mobile TV reception systems.
Satellite communication networks, basic architecture, satellite services, types of orbits (GEO, MEO, HEO, LEO), the spread of satellite signals.
Systems of satellite communication networks, satellite navigation systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Compass).

Exercise:
Safety training, filling exercises, scoring.

Laboratories:
Familiarization with computer tutorials.
Analyzing the propagation of signals in DVB-T (RadioLab - familiarization with the system for analysis and visualization of radio signals above the Earth's surface).
WiFi network design (I-Prop - familiarization with the system for coverage planning of indoor wireless systems).
Familiarization with laboratory measurements.
Measuring the quality parameters of the GSM signal.
Analysis of the DVB-T/T2 digital TV signal.
Spectrum analysis of radio signals.
Analysis of the DVB-S/S2 digital TV signal.
Access point settings and the verify communication WiFi.
Alternative date of computer exercises and laboratory measurements.
