Optical fibers
Fundamental characteristics of optical fibers, dispersion of planar optical waveguides, dispersion in optical fibers, modes of planar and fiber waveguides, transmission characteristics of optical fibers, fiber optical systems

Active devices of optical communication systems
Light sources for optical communications, semiconductor lasers, characteristics of laser diodes, LED, detectors for fiber optical communication systems

Communication systems with optical fibers
Design of fiber optical communication systems, optical fiber amplifiers,
dispersion compensation, optical solitons,

Devices of integrated optics
Fiber optical directional couplers, delay lines, band filters,
controllers of polarisation states of optical fibers, integrated optical sensors.

Measurement of optical fibers
Basic experimental conditions, attenuation measurement, measurement of refractive index profile, NA measurements. measurement of fiber dispersion and BW, cut-off wavelength, bending losses, MFD specifications, measuremnt of birefringence
