Subject syllabus

speech and video coding, pricniples and features the most used codecs (G.711, G.729, H.264,MPEG-4...).
Media transport protocols (RTP, SRTP, ZRTP, RTSP).
Protocol family fro multimedia H.32x, H.323 concept.
RAS and Q.931Signaling, their procedures, DRC and GRC models.
H.245 procedures, Fast-Connect mode and H.245 tunelling through Q.931.
SIP protocol, SIP architecture elements, SIP addressing and the main ideas in RFC 3261.
SIP Methods, responses, header structure, transactions and dialogs.
SDP media description, field constructions, offer/answer model.
VoIP architectura with elements - SIP server, Gatekeeper, Gateway and endpoints, design and implementation.
Multimedia communication system open-source projects - Asterisk, Kamailio, GNUGK.
Audio and video streaming, webcasting and video on demand
Speech and video quality, approach to evaluation, QoS tools in IP networks (Intserv, Diffserv, MPLS ...)
