Subject syllabus

Lectures:
Basic electrical power terms. Produce of electrical power in power plants, balance of produce and consumption of electrical power.
Transmission and distribution of electrical power. Electrical parametres of lines. Effective resistance.
Inductance. Conductance. Capacitance.
Steady running conditions of electrical networks. Simple DC line (LV, MV).
Three-phase LV and MV lines and networks. MV nodal networks.
HV and UHV lines.
Failure states in electrical networks. Short circuits in electrical networks. Characteristics of short circuit effects.
Terminology and identification of short circuit currents. Short circuit current timing course.
Calculation of short circuit conditions.
Ground fault. Ground-fault compensation.
Power system operation. Structure of power system. Basic diagram of power station.
Loses in electrical networks and their reduction.
Power factor correction.
Power quality.

Numeric exercises:
