Subject syllabus

Lectures:

1.Introduction to switching systems, their clasification. Telephone device and phone systems power supply.

2. Analog systems, Strowger switch and crossbar switch.

3. Link and register signalling, K+MFC-R2, EM.

4. Digital switching systems.

5. Time and space switching.

6. Signalling in digital systems and networks, SS7, QSIG and DSS1.

7. Switching systems EWSD and S12, principles and architecture..

8. Network synchronization.

9. Fundamentals of traffic analysis.

10.Speech quality evaluation.

11. Numbering ITU-T E.164 and national numbering plan.

12. Access networks.

13. Next generation network, general principles of the IMS architecture.

14. Signalling plane in IMS.

Exercises:

1. The acquaintance with content and work in lab.

2. The telephone device, loop signalling, ring signal and control tones, CLIP on analog lines and charge pulses.

3. The Strowger switch, networking and routing

4. The crossbar switching systems, MFC-R2, the measurement preparation.

5,6, 7. Lab. no.1 on topic Signaling : The Measurement and analysis control tones, loop signalling, DTMF, MFC -R2, EM, DSS1 and SS7. Evaluation: max. 10p.

8. The educational applications: Switchnig networks, EWSD.

9. Test (Evaluation:10 p.). Traffic analysis.

10, 11. Lab. no.1 on topic Traffic analysis and speech quality evaluation. (Evaluated by 10p.)

12. A visit of Telefónica O2 the network operation center in Prague.

13. The numbering plan in Czech republic, EU policy for regulation and telecommunication market.

14. The advanced technologies in NGN and final evaluation.
