Subject syllabus

Lectures:

Block diagram of transmission chain. Development of telecommunications lines. Basic concepts. The replacement scheme management. Primary and secondary parameters leadership.
The theory of circuit - the telegraph equation. The length of the speed of waves and waves spread over the management. Infinite long homogenous leadership. Keeping completed wave impedance.
Input impedance of circuit. The calculation of primary and secondary parameters on the basis of input impedance measurement and shortage. Electrical length of circuit.
Homogeneous leadership in the high frequencies. Utilization management substation for the transmission of telecommunications signals.
Types, characteristics and use of metallic telecommunications lines. Ouverground lines, cable lines - symmetrical and coaxial. Frequency characteristics of the secondary parameters depending on the type of management and use of telecommunications lines.
Non-homogeny metallic circuits capacity asymmetry. The methods of disposal capacity imbalances.
Measurement of the cables - the localization of insulation defects.
Introduction to the telecommunications and optical fibres.
Principles of optics, electromagnetic waves, rays, photons.
Fundamentals of optical fibres, the basic structure, the role of Numerical Aperture.
Attenuation, bending loss, scattering, absorption, the calculation of the total phasing-out, the measurement methods downturn.
Mode and chromatic dispersion, fashion, dispersions causes and methods of their reduction.
Transfer speed and bandwidth, link dispersion and bandwidth.
Optical cables, the orientation of the catalogue parameters.

Exercises:

Exam prerequisites, safety training. Addressing examples - the calculation of secondary parameters, the ideal management and circuits without bias.
Examples - the calculation of voltage and current in the media management ended by a general impedance.
Examples - the calculation of primary and secondary parameters measured values of the input impedance and short runs.
Calculations geometric properties of optical fibres.
Calculations attenuation of optic fibres.
Calculations dispersions and transmission speed.
Working with catalogue sheets of optical fibres and cables.
