Subject syllabus

Lectures:
Introduction to radio networks, basic concepts, the distribution of radio networks.
Signal Processing, the source coding, channel coding, interleaving, digital modulations.
The issue of propagation of radio signals, the distribution of radio waves, the phenomena affecting the spread of radio waves.
Basic concepts and functions of radio systems, cellular structure, the use of frequency band, multiple access, handover.
Systems for the public radio network, international standards, frequency bands, the analogue mobile systems, NMT system.
Introduction to the GSM system, signal processing in the GSM system.
Construction and organization of GSM system, radio subsystem (BTS, BSC), the network subsystem (MSC, VLR, HLR, the AUC, EIR) subsystem for the operation and maintenance of OSS, the GSM network (Um, Abis, A).
GSM layers, protocols and services, layering the GSM system, communication protocols, creating of bursts, hierarchy frameworks.
Procedures and signalling in GSM network, the construction of concentration, GSM channels, management system, GSM, the classification of GSM services.
Planning of mobile networks, defining the parameters of the system frequency plan, the use of computer simulation for the analysis and dissemination of radio signals.
Security wireless communications, security in mobile networks, authentication, confidentiality of data.
Data transmission in GSM networks, the possibility of data transmission in the 2.5-generation mobile networks (EDGE, HSCSD, GPRS), the basic description, transmission speeds.
Data via GPRS - network architecture, interface functions network elements.
Developments, UMTS - a description of the basic concepts and systems, network architecture, service.
