Subject syllabus

Lectures:

Basic division of signals (deterministic, stochastic). Analog and digital signlas. Mathematical models of analog signals, their representation in time and frequency domain.
Operations with signals. Time-shift, time-reversal, convolution, correlation.
Periodic and harmonic signals. Approximation of signals with the sum of Fourier serie.
Fourier transform and inverse Fourier transform. Some basic signals and their Fourier spectras. Connection between Fourier transform and Fourier serie.
Sampling and reconstruction, aliasing, leakage. Quantization noise.
Discrete and digital signals, periodic and nonperiodic digital signals. Symmetric and asymmetric digital signals.
Correlation and convolution of digital signals.
The discrete Fourier transform, fast Fourier transform, fast convolution algorithm.
Overview of analog and digital modulations.

Random signals, distribution function and probability density function. Mean value, dispersion.
Random signlas, ergodicity and stationarity.


Exercises:




Basic characteristics of analog and digital signals
and their representation in MATLAB.
Deterministic and stochastic signals. Correlation,
autocorrelation and convolution.
Fourier serie convergence. Approximation of signals
with the sum of Fourier serie. Test 1: operations with signals - 3 points.
Fourier transform. 1st project - Fourier transform and
Fourier series

Sampling and sinc(x) reconstruction, aliasing, leakage,
quantization noise. Test 2: Spectras of analog and digital signlas - 3
points.
Energetic and power discrete signals in MATLAB. Test
3: Sampling - 3 points.
Correlation, autocorrelation, convolution.
1st project handover. DFT and FFT, fast convolution.
Spectras of analog and digital signals in MATLAB.
Modulations in MATLABu, spectras of modulated signals.
2nd project - spectras of modulated signals. Test 4: DFT, FFT - 3 points.

Energy and power of random signals, correlation, mean
value and dispersion in MATLAB.
Rozdíl ve spektru signálu bez šumu a zašuměného,
rozdíly v korelaci a autokorelaci, MATLAB.
1st project handover. Final test.
