Subject syllabus

Mechanics: Kinematics and dynamics of a mass point. System of mass points and rigid body. Material center, center of gravity. Composition of forces and moments of forces in a rigid body. Momentum, the law of conservation of momentum.

Newton's second law for rotational motions, moment of inertia and energy of rotational motion. The law of conservation of momentum. Rolling movements. Summary of the conservation laws used so far and the conditions of their applicability.

Periodic events. Pendulums, oscillations, interference of oscillations.

Travelling and standing waves, longitudinal and transverse. Wave equation. Wave propagation in homogeneous space and interface behavior. Sound, Doppler effect, wave interference.

Molecular physics and thermodynamics.

Heat transfer.

Electrostatic field of point and continuous charges, intensity, electric field potential. Dipole. Motion of a charged particle in an electrostatic field.

Current conduction mechanisms in solids.

Stationary and non-stationary magnetic fields. The motion of a charged particle in a magnetic field. Hall effect.

Electromagnetic fields in various material environments. Maxwell's equations. Wave equation. Wave optics: interference, diffraction, dispersion. Light sources, photon.

Propagation of electromagnetic and mechanical waves in homogeneous and inhomogeneous
environment. Reflection, refraction, absorption.

Atomic and nuclear physics.
