Subject syllabus

Basic legislation on blasting and the use of explosives
Basic concepts of blasting, classification and characteristics of BO, storage of explosives.
Blasting agents, their characteristics and handling.
Blasting equipment, construction and classification of charges.
Types of detonation of explosive charges - electric, non-electric, electronic and others.
Modern blasting equipment.
Safety and hygiene of work with explosives.
Determination of basic parameters of screen, line, area and combined blasting.
Design of large scale blasting operations.
Harmful effects of explosion (pressure wave, material spillage, toxicity of fumes, seismic effects).
