Subject syllabus

Lectures (courses):
1. Introduction, history of laser, the fundamental diagram of laser.
2. Superposition of electromagnetic waves, optical resonator.
3. Substance as a set of quantum systems, thermodynamic equilibrium, Boltzmann distribution.
4. Interaction of optical radiation with substance, spontaneous and stimulated emission, Einstein coefficients.
5. Laser, active medium in the resonator, the output power and spectral composition.
6. Classification of lasers, solid state lasers - parts.
7. Solid-state lasers - the different types.
8. Liquid lasers.
9. Gas lasers - atomic, ion.
10. Gas lasers - the molecular
11. CO2 laser and plasma lasers.
12. Semiconductor lasers.
13. Laser applications in geodesy and mine surveying.
14. Safety of work with lasers.

Exercise:
1. Light as electromagnetic radiation.
2. Detection of optical radiation.
3. Use of lasers in geodesy.
4. Use of lasers in mine surveying.
5. Calibration of small laser range finders / eg Dist).
6. Laser interferometer LM - 10 Renishaw's - description
7. Comparation of leveling rod.
