Subject syllabus

1. Prehistory and antiquity in geodesy and cartography.
2. The Middle Ages in cartography (church, maritime, non-European cartography; cosmography).
3. Discovering travels and travelers, important geodetic personalities and expeditions.
4. Renaissance and Reformation in geodesy and cartography.
5. Old and historical instruments and aids for measurement of basic geodetic quantities and for cartometric tasks.
6. Development of instrumentation and mapping methods.
7. Old and historical cartographic works in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia (and Slovakia).
8. First military mapping.
9. Detailed mapping of European countries, development of cadastre on the territory of the Habsburg monarchy.
10. Historical mining maps.
11. Historical forest maps.
12. Historical water management maps.
13. Historical cadastral maps.
14. Important map collections and archives, museums and geodetic artifacts in the landscape.
