1. Introduction to Database Technologies: History, importance, types of databases, ranking, and leading database providers.
2. Database Systems (DBMS): Functions and architectures of database management systems.
3. Database Modeling: ER diagrams and UML class diagrams.
4. Relational Database Design: Functional dependencies, keys, and normalization.
5. Relational Data Model and Querying, Data Types in Databases: Overview, internal data storage formats, relational algebra, and SQL.
6. SQL: Basic operations (CRUD), queries, JOIN operations, and stored procedures.
7. Indexes, Query Optimization, and Database Performance.
8. Transactions: Properties (ACID) and management.
9. NoSQL Databases: Types and differences from relational databases.
10. Graph and Vector Databases, Large Language Models.
11. Database Security and Backup: Approaches, encryption, authentication, authorization, and fault-tolerant solutions.
12. Big Data and Cloud Databases: Introduction, architecture, and applications.
13. Data Analysis and Business Intelligence: Data warehouses and an introduction to BI tools.

E-learning

For communication beyond in-person lectures and exercises, the Moodle learning management system (lms.vsb.cz) is used. This platform facilitates communication not only between the instructor and students but also among students themselves.
