Subject syllabus

LECTURE

Properties of iron ores, sinters, pellets, fluxes and metallurgical fuels and
their testing. Physico-chemical processes of sintering and pelletizing.
Thermodynamic, kinetic and thermal processes of blast furnace combustion zone.
Blast furnace aerodynamics. Reactions in blast furnace :volatiliozation,
decomposition of hydrates, water-gas shift reaction, carbon deposition,
decomposition of carbonates ect. Iron oxides reduction. Direct and indirect
reduction. Effect of direct reduction on coke rate. Optimum coke rate
calculation. Reduction of various elements.
