Lectures
1. Solutions – ideal, diluted solution – characteristics, importance.
2. Activities of components in solution – manners of expressing the activities, calculation of activities coefficients in poly-component systems.
3. Molten steelmaking slags, characteristics, formation of slags, theory of slags.
4. Nernst distribution law, desulphurisation of steel.
5. Reactions running at steel refining – transfer of oxygen from atmosphere into steel bath – mechanism.
6. Dephosphorisation of steel, phosphorus oxidation and stabilisation of P2O5 in slag.
7. Hydrogen and nitrogen in iron and steel – dependence of gas solubility on pressure, temperature and composition of steel.
8. Carbon reaction – its importance ate production and refining of steel, influence of temperature and pressure on development of carbon reaction.
9. Importance of deoxidation in steel, theoretical foundation of coagulating, diffusion deoxidation and deoxidation of steel by synthetic slag.
10. Conditions for formation of inclusions in liquid and in solidifying steel.
