Student will be able:
-to describe basic types of foundry moulds and their use for casting manufacture;
-to know principles of using different types of moulding mixtures, their properties and
application for particular casting kinds;
-to know a process of designing and calculating the gating systems;
-to explain principles of positive and negative directional solidification;
-to solve static and dynamic uplift pressure of moulds and cores;
-to explain the formation of the most important casting defects;
-to know principles of casting manufacturing methods using in particular the increased
pressure on metal surface, of shell moulding, and investment casting.
