Subject syllabus

1. The range of the products, qualities and the main areas of their application. An overview of the competing technologies: foundry, machining, welding, powder metallurgy.
2. Conditions of plastic deformation. Theoretical foundations - stress state, intensity
of the stress.
3. Changes on the plastic deformation. Deformation, strain rate.
4. The basic laws of plastic deformation. Inhomogeneous deformation, friction.
5. Strengthening and restoration processes - the mathematical description.
6. Influence of forming on the properties of materials. The influence of the elements on
formability.
7. Default materials for forming processes. Fundamentals of heating and cooling.
8. Rolling mill facilities: theoretical essence of rolling deformation zone, stroke
conditions, strain rate and power ratios, spread, advancing.
9. Energy-power parameters of rolling: deformation resistance, power, work, load.
10. Manufacture of semi-finished product, shapes, long products and wire.
11. Forming of non-ferrous metals.
12. Seamless and welded tubes production.
13. Characteristics of the others processes of forming (forging, drawing, extruding,
profiling, …) and unconventional forming processes.
14. Economy, ecology and automation in forming.
