Subject syllabus

1. Assortment of rolled products, principal technologies and types of rolling (longitudinal, cross and skew rolling).
2. Types of rollig stands and mills, dispositions and technological equipment of rolling mills.
3. Theoretical aspects of rolling (deformation zone, bite capacity of rolls, spreading, rolling forces, heating of the semi-products).
4. Production of blanks and sequence of continuous casting and rollling (processing of thin continuously cast products in one heat).
5. Flat products hot/cold rolled (plates, strips, characterization of rolling mills).
6. Prediction of force/energy parameters of rolling and control of flatness of plates and strips.
7. Rolling of long products (section steels, rails, wire) – poining up particularity of the Czech mills.
8. Groove – types, parts, geometry, dimension characteristics, neutral axis of the groove.
9. Material flow and heterogeneous deformation in the grooves (principles of the grooves’ arrangement).
10. Contact area of the rollling stock with the groove’s walls, spreading in several grooves and working life.
11. General principles of the sequences of passes, roll pass design of the simple bars.
12. Fundaments of roll pass design of selected section types (standard beams, wide-flange beams).
13. Roll bending and shaping of flat products (production of the cold-formed profiles and welded tubes).
14. Methods of the seamless tubes production (principles of piercing, methods of elongation, cold rolling).
