Subject syllabus

The history of environmental pollution. Resources, consumption and energy management.
Creating the environment - its components. The natural environment and the environment. Abiotic vs. biotic environmental factors. The ecosystem and its components. Role of photosynthesis. Food chains . Biosphere and its components. Ecosystem diversity. Energy balance of the ecosystem.
Analysis of stationary and nonstationary environmental pollution sources. Types of emission from thermal processes. Registration of emissions, GIS. Influence of thermal processes on the environment, the method and factors of formation of
emissions. Creation of fly-ash. SOx formation. NOx formation. Organic compounds in the flue gas. Types of smog. Primary production of emission reduction measures, secondary measures - detoxification, cleaning.
Dedusting of combustion products - different types of equipment. Analyses of dust collections, surface properties of particles. Separability of particles. Feed and wastewater in energy management. Factors that determine the purity of water. Gases in water. Organic substances in water. Cleaning methods.
Solid waste - thermal disposal. Waste as a fuel. Waste combustion triangle. Oxidation and reduction processes.
Other types of environmental pollution (noise, vibration, etc.)

Seminars
Ecosystem, biosphere, environmental factors, fossil fuels and their analysis in terms of creating the emissions, fly-ash formation, removal of dust particles, NOx formation and methods of detoxification, SOx formation and detoxication methods, greenhouse gases, waste disposal.
