Subject syllabus

Power sources, world reserves and their accessibility. Power sources of Czech Republic and their utilisation. Fossil fuels, their basic properties, chemical composition, combustion temperature, heating without access of air. Facilities for combustion of fuels. Static course of combustion, dynamic course of combustion, formation of emissions. Basic types of emissions and mechanism of their formation. Formation of fly ashes, chemical composition, enrichment factor. Nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides, aromatic polycyclic hydrocarbons, other types of emissions. Primary measures – reduction of formation of emissions. Secondary measures – detoxication methods and equipment.
Unconventional power sources, methods of their utilisation, possibilities within the frame of Czech Republic, wastes as fuel; methods of utilisation, ecological and economic evaluation.
Power transformation. Combined generation of electric, thermal power and cold – co-generation, tri-generation, possibilities of use. Basic composition of co-generation unit and modern possibilities of uses of progressive world technologies. Evaluation of evolution of emissions.
