Subject syllabus

Direct and indirect measurement methods, uncertainty of measurement. Temperature measurement, contact and non-contact methods and sensors. Radiation pyrometers - total, monochrome, band, ratio. Effect of material emissivity and environmental properties. Thermo cameras. Fluid pressure measurement. Velocity and flow rate sensors, classical and advanced - inductive, vortex, ultrasonic, Coriolis, correlation. Laser doppler systems LDA, LIF, PIV, CTA. Hygrometers - dilatation, resistance, capacitive, psychometers, dewpoint measurement. Analysis of chemical composition of gases - thermoconductive, thermochemical, photometric, spectral. Digital systems. Signal sampling theory, aliasing. Frequency signal analysis. Filtering and other time series operations. Data archiving, database systems. Measurement of boundary conditions - heat flux measurement in materials, heat transfer coefficient during nozzle cooling. Measurement of the thermal conductivity coefficient. Thermal expansion measurement. Active thermography.
