Subject syllabus

• Production of municipal and industrial waste, principles of waste management.
• Waste management legislation focusing on the area of thermal treatment of waste
• Evaluation of thermophysical properties of fuels and wastes, calculations of combustion processes
• Overview of methods of energy treatment of waste
• Waste incineration, process description and technical equipment for waste incineration
• Evaluation of the energy efficiency of waste incineration processes, conditions for energy recovery of waste
• Utilization of energy from the waste incineration process, possibility of efficient operation of waste incineration plants
• Measurement of emissions in thermal treatment of waste plants, characterization of measuring instruments and methods of sampling of gas samples, interpretation of measured emission values
• Solid products of energy treatment of waste, their characterization and processing
• Co-incineration of waste in power generation facilities and in cement plants
• Gasification and pyrolysis of waste, process description and technical equipment for gasification and pyrolysis of waste
• Devices and methods for eliminating of the negative impacts of the energy treatment of waste on the environment
• Cold methods of energy treatment of waste, anaerobic decomposition of waste and biogas production
