Subject syllabus
1. History of environmental pollution. Sources, consumption and management of energy.
2. Creation of the environment – its components. Natural environment, environment. Abiotic, biotic ecological factors. Ecosystem and its components. The role of photosynthesis. Food chains. Biosphere and its components. Ecosystem diversity. Energy balance of the ecosystem.
3. Analysis of stationary and non-stationary sources of environmental pollution.
4. Types of emissions from thermal processes. Emission registration, GIS. Primary measures reducing emissions, secondary measures – detoxification, cleaning.
5. Impact of thermal processes on the environment, method and factors of emission formation. Types of smog. Organic compounds in flue gases.
6. Formation and sources of SOx. Desulfurization methods.
7. Formation and sources of NOx. Denitrification methods.
8. Formation of CO2 and possibilities of its reduction.
9. Greenhouse gas emissions and their impacts on human health and biodiversity, other negative impacts of anthropogenic activity on the environment.
10. Dust removal from flue gases – individual types of equipment. Analysis of dust formations, surface properties of particles. Particle separation.
11. Feedwater and wastewater from the energy sector. Factors determining water purity. Treatment methods. Other types of environmental pollution (noise, vibrations, etc.).
12. Legislative measures based on the Green Deal, their implementation and impact on the environment.
