Subject syllabus

Surface structures, chemical surface properties, metal interactions with gases, adsorption and chemisorption,
Physical properties of metal surfaces, optical and electrical properties. peculiarities of surface and thin layers
Mechanical modifications and surface properties, machining and deformation effects, internal stress, microhardness. Surface microgeometry, surface roughness characteristics and methods of their determination, STM, AFM,
Chemical surface treatment, pickling, polishing. Conversion layers, coatings produced by oxidation. ChTZ surface.
Electrochemical processes and surface treatments, corrosion types, electrolytic coatings.
PVD and CVD technology. Heat plating and spraying, ion implantation, surface treatment by laser and plasma.
Structure of internal interfaces in solids, grain boundaries, segregation, epitaxy, nanostructured materials.
Violation of coatings during mechanical loading and wear due to thermal stress due to corrosion.
Surface pretreatment. Paint systems, enamels, ceramic coatings. Finishing operations, quality control.
Special materials and technologies. Inclusive compounds, LB-layers, emulsions and foams, colloidal systems.
Heterogeneous catalysis, two-dimensional chemical technology, catalysis on polymers and metallic glass.
