Solid state physics

Type of study Follow-up Master
Language of instruction Czech
Code 636-3002/01
Abbreviation FPLn
Course title Solid state physics
Credits 6
Coordinating department Department of Material Engineering
Course coordinator prof. RNDr. Pavol Koštial, Ph.D.

Subject syllabus

Lectures of SSP contain information about biddings in materials, atomic vibrations and their influence on specific heat capacity as well as on the thermal and dilatation properties. Further it is presented tensor representation of material properties. The next part of the course is devoted to the dielectric properties of ferroelectrics, polymers and liquid crystals. Physical picture of these materials is accompanied by polarization effects and mechanisms. Special attention is devoted to the electric, magnetic properties of materials, contact behaviour as well as to optical properties.
