Subject syllabus

1. Basic concepts of systems theory and systems analysis.
2. Information Theory and Coding. Data and information in the information system.
3. Principles of Information Systems. Three layer architecture of information systems. Database management systems.
4. Basic concepts of systems analysis. The theory of distinguishing levels of hierarchy, decomposition.
5. The concept of information systems and their breakdown (MIS, EIS, Office of IS, systems, process control).
6. Topology and architecture of computer networks. Distributed database systems.
7. History of the development of methodologies, methods and techniques
8. The basic process of information system development. The life cycle of the project. Approach to the design and implementation of IS (ad-hoc, fundamentalist, balanced).
9. Methods of processing user requests.
10. Methods and tools of functional / process analysis and design of information systems.
11. Methods of data analysis and information system design.
12. The principles of object-oriented analysis and design of information systems.
13. Cost analysis of the various stages of the project life cycle
14. CASE tools used in the project life cycle. Computer Aided Software Engineering
