Subject syllabus

1. Introduction, basic concepts, energy sources, fuel classification, formation of caustobiolites
2. Coal, types, properties, characteristics. Analysis of solid fuels.
3. Coal treatment, methods of further processing. Coking, process products, their properties. Use of coking products.
4. Combustion, Gasification: principles, processes, equipment. Methods of using gasification products.
5. Gases: natural gas, biogas, hydrogen. Extraction, processing, distribution, storage, utilization.
6. Petroleum- composition, properties, classification. Petroleum extraction, basic processing, transport and storage.
7. Liquid biofuels. Alcohol biofuels, fuels based on vegetable fats.
