1. Introduction to history of ironmaking up to the present. Basic parameters of electric arc furnaces and electric induction furnaces.
2. The fundamentals of thermodynamics of steelmaking processes. Solutions of molten metals, non-metals and gases.
3. Norms and assortment of steels for castings. Structural steels for castings. Special steels for corrosion-resistent castings. Special steels for abrasion-resistent castings.
4. Construction and thermal mode of operation of an electric arc furnace (EAF). Linings of electric arc furnaces. The development of EAF technology.
5. Production of unalloyed steels for castings in basic electric arc furnaces. The process of individual technological-metallurgical phases. Practice of melt control.
6. Technology of production of alloyed steels for castings in alkaline electric arc furnaces. Function of main thermodynamic conditions of metallurgical processes.
7. Intensification of production of steel in EAF. Contemporary development trends in steel making in EAF.
8. Production of steel in acidic EAF. The advantages of acidic EAF compared to alkaline EAF.
9. Construction and thermal mode of operation in electric induction medium frequency furnace (EIF). Stamping refractory materials of EIF. Practice of melt control.
10. Technology of production of unalloyed and alloyed steels in EIF.
11. Deoxidation of steel in a furnace ladle and casting. Final deoxidation of steel in a ladle and its effect on steel properties.
12. Possibilities of secondary metallurgy in steel foundries. Using individual methods and principles of individual processes of secondary metallurgy.
13. Defects of steel castings. Causes of the origin of individual kinds of defects and possibilities of removing them.
14. Some possibilities of using cost analysis to control production. A method of variance calculation and incomplete real actual costs. Using costs to control production.
