Subject syllabus

1. Introduction to ecology, definitions, basic concepts. Ecosystems. Ecology in construction.
2. Landscape ecology. Natural and cultural landscapes. Ecological stability.
3. Skeleton of ecological stability of the landscape and territorial system of ecological stability of the landscape.
4. Protection of landscape and landscape character. Extension of development into the landscape and its impact on the surrounding environment.
5. Wastewater and its treatment, small (domestic) wastewater treatment plants.
6. The impact of buildings on air quality, emissions from domestic heating systems and ways of reducing them, photocatalytically active wall coatings for outdoor air purification.
7. Greenery in the urban environment: parks, tree plantations, green roofs.
8. Public spaces. A city for the people. Greenery inside buildings. Air purification and filtration. Evapotranspiration.
9. Waste in construction and methods of its treatment. Waste management - waste collection, sorting and recycling.
