Předmět se zabývá třemi oblastmi, kde student znalosti získává. První oblast je věnována Ad-hoc sítím, směrovacím algoritmům, technikám řízení sítí a kvality služeb. Druhá je zaměřena na oblast kryptografie v éře kvantových počítačů a kvantové komunikace. Třetí se zabývá pokročilými fotonickými systémy a optovláknovými senzory.
